Fastcase and the SoloSmall Firm
Not a whole lot to report on Fastcase, other than it it chugs along with few new users (less than 100 in July) and a lot of active current users. For those numerically inclined, the members usage report from Fastcase is here.
Member Awareness
One very interesting tidbit from the July marketing group member awareness survey is the near complete lack of knowledge about Fastcase among large firm attorneys, to wit:
- Thirty-four percent of solo and small firm members are “extremely” aware of Fastcase (the largest percentage among solo-small respondents), with 64% of solo-smalls in some way aware of the service;
- Less than one-third (30%) of large firm attorneys are aware in any way of Fastcase (only 13% are “extremely” aware). A plurality of large firm attorneys (28%) are not aware of Fastcase at all.
- Seventy-three percent of solo-small members believe Fastcase is somewhat or extremely important to them, with a plurality (47%) deeming it “extremely” important.
- For large firm members, less than forty percent (38%) believe Fastcase is important, with only 14 percent believing it is “extremely” important.
These are not the only differences in survey responses when broken down by size of firm, but they are telling with respect to Fastcase and how hard it may be to increase awareness and importance of the service among members in large firms.
New iPad App and Forecite Features
Fastcase continues to innovate, adding a new application for the iPad (there already is one for the iPod/iPhone) and developing a new “forecite” function that returns relevant results that did not appear in your specific search results. I blogged about that feature here, and Fastcase announced its iPad feature here.
